Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary field that deals with living organic cells with their surrounding matter and is increasingly becoming the most common language of Life Sciences. A biochemistry degree opens up a range of careers in industry and research in the areas of health, agriculture and environment. The teaching programmes at the department of Biochemistry at EJM College, deals with the studies of the intersection of biology and chemistry and explores life at the molecular level. It offers studies of the structure, bonding, function and interaction of biological macromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acid, carbohydrates and lipids. The course also offer the study of molecular biology, the science of genes and the regulation of DNA, RNA and Proteins. The course provide strong foundation in cell biology, immunology and microbiology. It also offer the studies of recent techniques use in Molecular Biology.
Aims of the Department
1. To produce graduates who shall excel in biochemical science education and follow their career successfully.
2. To produce students who are competent and smart to deal with ongoing advancement in science and research around the world.
3. To produce graduates who show strong scientific and research temperament and demonstrate professional integrity.
